Visiting a Patient

Visits from family members, friends and clergy are an important part of the healing process. Our visitation policy provides a safe environment that promotes patients' physical and emotional well-being, provides time for patient rest and allows time for medical therapies and nursing care.

Some units may have more restrictive visiting privileges to ensure that patients receive sufficient recovery time.

Visitors are encouraged to communicate directly with the nurse caring for the patient to discuss visiting arrangements and share information about the patient. Please respect the nurse's direction in coordinating visiting times according to each patient's preferences, care needs and the needs of the family.

Visitor guidelines

In semi-private rooms, please limit visitors to two at a time for each patient.
Please help us to keep the hospital quiet by speaking softly and avoiding unnecessary noise.
Family and visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments, or when the doctor or nurse needs to examine the patient.
Visitors who wish to stay past visiting hours should discuss the request with the nurse caring for the patient.
All children should be supervised by an adult.
Visitors are not restricted, limited or denied visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or disability.
As used in these guidelines "family" means any individual who plays a significant role in an individual's life such as spouses, domestic partners/civil unions, significant others (of both different and same sex), and other individuals not legally related to the patient, as per patient preferences. "Family" also includes a minor patient's parents, regardless of the gender of either parent.
