Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Procedures

Oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures encompass the craniomaxillofacial complex: the mouth, jaws, neck, face and skull. They include:

  • Dentoalveolar surgery. This includes the removal of impacted teeth, extractions on medically compromised patients, bone grafting or preprosthetic surgery to provide better anatomy for the placement of implants, dentures and other dental prostheses.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of cysts and tumors of the maxillofacial region.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of cutaneous malignancy (skin cancer).
  • Diagnosis and treatment of congenital or acquired craniofacial malformations such as ankyloglossia, facial hemangiomas, dermoid cysts, cleft lip and palate, and cranial vault malformations such as craniosynostosis.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of chronic facial pain disorders.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders, or TMJ.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of dentofacial deformities, such as incorrect bite/malocclusion, or facial asymmetry.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of facial trauma, including soft-tissue lacerations, jaw fractures, cheek bone fractures, nasal fractures and orbital fractures (eye socket).
  • Surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea through maxillomandibular advancement.
  • Surgery to insert osseointegrated (bone-fused) dental implants and maxillofacial implants for attaching craniomaxillofacial prostheses.
  • Cosmetic surgery of the head and neck: rhytidectomy/facelift, browlift, blepharoplasty/eyelids, otoplasty/ears, rhinoplasty/nose, septoplasty, cheek augmentation, chin augmentation, genioplasty/chin, neck liposuction, lip enhancement, injectable cosmetic treatments, botox, microdermabrasion and chemical peels.
