Residency Programs
Endodontics
This program will enhance your knowledge of classic and contemporary techniques for treating diseases in the roots and periapical areas. You will also gain extensive clinical experience in all phases of endodontics by working under the supervision of an endodontic specialist.
You will learn to:
- Diagnose pulpal and periapical diseases.
- Differentiate pain from odontogenic and non-odontogenic sources.
- Treat infection and traumatic injuries to the teeth and oral structure.
- Treat pain caused by a medical or dental emergency.
- Bleach discolored crowns.
The program also provides access to the latest dental tools. The tools you are encouraged to use include rotary file systems, electric handpieces, apex locators, digital radiography, surgical operating microscopes and heated obturation systems.
Because general dentists perform at least 90 percent of all endodontic treatments, the program will prepare you as a general dentist to complete endodontic therapy on all teeth and understand when a referral to a specialist is necessary.
