Call Schedule

First year cardiovascular disease fellows take call from home every 7th night, and the call responsibilities are narrowly defined [participate in heart codes (emergency primary angioplasty on acute MI patients), care for complicated admissions to the CCU teaching service after initial evaluation by the CC/IC team, participate in emergency echocardiography and emergency placement of temporary pacemakers, all under supervision of a cardiology attending].

The fellows take call every 6th weekend. On that weekend the fellow is in the hospital for 16 hours (approximately 7-8 hours per day), with a cardiology attending.
